Xbox 360 Peer Pressure softmod gets its first release
Grimdoomer shipped the first version of the Xbox 360 Peer Pressure softmod on October 7, 2026. The full technical write-up is still weeks away.

Ryan M, known as Grimdoomer, put out the first release of the Xbox 360 Peer Pressure softmod on October 7, 2026. If you own an original Xbox 360 and want to run your own code on it, this is the one to watch. The code lives in the Xbox 360 Peer Pressure repo on GitHub.
The details are thin for now. Ryan says a blog post with “all the technical details” will come out in a few weeks. Until then, the posts don’t say which console models or dashboard versions the softmod supports, or exactly what it does on the hardware. Don’t fill that gap with guesses.
Ryan also said that, barring critical bugs, he’ll be “hibernating” for the next two months “to recoup my sanity from working on this project.” That’s the most honest line in the whole thread. Softmods on locked consoles eat maintainers alive, and anyone who has followed a scene project for a while has seen that burnout before. Good on him for taking the break and not pretending the work is done.
The reaction was what you’d expect. YouTuber MVG said he’ll check it out shortly. Other users joked that they’d have to dig out their 360s, with one asking for the blog post before breaking anything open.
My take: softmods like this are where scene work turns into something regular people can actually use. The release is the easy part. The write-up will tell you whether it’s safe, what it touches, and how to back out. Wait for it. If you want to try it sooner, read the repo’s readme first and keep your only 360 out of the line of fire until you understand what you’re flashing.
