SSPI (Super Simple Package Installer) is moving closer to a full release on homebrew-enabled PlayStation 5 consoles. The package manager, which lets users search sources and handle downloads through a debrid account, is currently in beta and being tested directly on console.

While the PlayStation 4 version reached its final PKG release with version 5.11.7 and now updates in-app, the new PlayStation 5 port handles extraction and installation in the background or right inside the app. Testing figures on a 7.2 GB game show download speeds at 1 minute and 11 seconds running at roughly 110 MB per second. Extraction takes 1 minute and 53 seconds, while doctor and packaging take 5 minutes and 29 seconds using 12 threads to compress 9.39 GB down to 8.34 GB using level 3 kraken. Finally, installation finishes in 2 minutes and 1 second, keeping the entire process under seven minutes.
