If you are running a jailbroken PS5 and want to connect to your console when you are away from home, a new homebrew project called PS5Tailscale just dropped. Developer atreus04-GG published the tool to make remote access outside your local network straightforward.

For Remote Play, the creator recommends using PSPlay or PXPlay on Android. You can also pair it with Chiaki-ng on Windows or the Steam Deck, or use a specific Chiaki Android release if the Play Store version gives you trouble.

One of the more interesting details is experimental Rest Mode support. During testing, compatible homebrew services running before the console went into Rest Mode stayed reachable. That includes Remote Play, the PKG Manager, the ELF Loader, FTP, and the PS5Tailscale dashboard itself. This could save you from keeping the hardware fully awake just to tinker remotely.

Since Rest Mode functionality is still in beta, results will vary depending on your specific setup, and the creator is looking for community feedback.

How to try it

  1. Check out the project repository on GitHub.
  2. Set up a compatible client like PSPlay or Chiaki-ng on your device of choice.
  3. Test the connection, keeping in mind that Rest Mode features are still experimental.
