A brand-new release for the Nintendo 3DS family brings classic kart racing to handhelds with a massive list of fixes, performance boosts, and new features. Building on EstebanPdN’s original Nintendo 3DS port and SpaghettiKart, developer Epic0522 has launched MarioKart64-3DSPort-Complete on GitHub.

The release brings improved memory handling, fewer SD access lags, and rendering fixes for flickering trees, water, and depth issues. Players also get a polished dual-screen interface with five HUD layouts, minimaps, and lap-time breakdowns. New additions include Solo VS and Battle modes, random cups, an AUTO mode to let the CPU drive, and a Global Turbo Speed toggle via the C-Stick or ZL button. An optional Modern Logic setting revamps item behavior and adds sliding plus flashing warnings for incoming shells.

Both Old and New 3DS models are supported. While the default frame limiter targets 30 FPS, turning it off can push up to 60 FPS on capable setups, depending on the course. Local multiplayer is not supported.
