KytyPS5 now runs Marvel's Wolverine cutscenes and early gameplay on PC
KytyPS5, the experimental PS5 emulator for PC, now shows cutscenes and early gameplay from Marvel's Wolverine, though at single-digit frame rates.
KytyPS5, the experimental PS5 emulator for PC, has moved past booting Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Wolverine. The latest build shows cinematics and early gameplay. The progress was posted on X, and the catch is obvious: the game still runs at single-digit frame rates. This is proof of life, not a way to play.
Until now, KytyPS5 could boot the game and let you poke around the menus, and that was about it. The X post also says Ghost of Yotei is showing signs of life on PC. Sony has pulled its first-party titles off PC, so there’s no official PC version of Wolverine in the works. For people who want these games on a computer, every step like this matters.
It’s not the only PS5 project moving. The SharpEmu team recently got six of 55 tested games running at 60 FPS, with another six reaching gameplay at lower frame rates. The gameplay screenshot came from Unreal Gaming PC on YouTube.
Here’s my take. PS4 and PS5 run on x86 CPUs, so the processor side is far less exotic than the PS3’s. That’s why people on the GBAtemp thread argue PS5 emulation could eventually beat the console on current PCs. Maybe. I wouldn’t bet on it while the frame counter sits in single digits. One commenter also claims source code for a 2023 version of the game is already out there. Nothing in the article backs that up, so treat it as forum noise.
Want to try it? The source has no setup steps or system requirements. Start with the KytyPS5 GitHub page, and remember that “experimental” means exactly that.
